My TIP-Manila

The Technological Institute of the Philippines or “TIP” is a private institution of higher learning in the Philippines which specializes in the traditional fields of engineering. TIP also offers courses in Architecture, Information Technology, Marine Education, Business Administration and Education. TIP was established by a group of educators headed by Engr. Demetrio A. Quirino Jr. on February 8, 1962. At present, TIP has two branches in Metropolitan Manila, TIP Manila and TIP Quezon City.

  • 1962 – TIP is founded by Engr. Demetrio A. Quirino, Jr.
  • 1967 – TIP opens its first main site at G. Puyat St., Quiapo, Manila.
  • 1981 – TIP opens its P. Casal Campus located at 363 P. Casal St., Quiapo, Manila. By this time TIP’s student population has reaches to 23,000.
  • 1983 – TIP opens its Quezon City campus located at 20th Avenue, Cubao, Quezon City.
  • 1997 – The Founder’s Hall, a six-storey building is inaugurated in TIP. P. Casal.
  • 1998 – TIP’s massive campaign for Quality begins. TIP begins preparing for its first ISO certification.
  • 1999 – TIP is ISO 9001:1994 Certified (Quality Management System for Maritime Courses)
  • 2000 – TIP begins its campaign for accreditation under the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP)-Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA).
  • 2000 – TIP Quezon City opens its Aurora Boulevard frontage.
  • 2001 – A six- storey building in TIP Arlegui is completed to complement TIP P. Casal which is just across the street.
  • 2002 – TIP is ISO 9001:2000 Ceritified (Quality Management System for All Course Offerings)
  • 2005 – TIP is recertified to ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System for all Course Offerings.
  • 2006 – TIP is a special awardee of the PACUCOA under Category A as one of the top five schools with the highest number of accredited programs without majors: TIP Manila is Number 1 with 11 accredited programs while TIP Quezon City is Number 2 with 10 accredited programs.
  • 2007 – TIP Manila is a special awardee of the PACUCOA as the school with the highest number of Level I and Level II accredited programs.
  • 2007 – TIP Quezon City and TIP Manila are named Centers of Development (COD) in Information Technology Education by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
  • 2008 – The Civil Engineering and Computer Engineering Programs of TIP Quezon City are given Level III Reaccreditted Status by FAAP-PACUCOA.
  • 2008 – The Freshman Building, a four-storey building for the use of freshmen students, is inaugurated in TIP Quezon City.
  • 2009 – TIP Quezon City is granted Autonomous status by the CHED. TIP Manila is granted Deregulated status by the CHED.
    TIP Quezon City and TIP Manila are named Centers of Development (COD) in Computer Engineering (CpE) by the CHED.
    The Electrical Engineering Department of TIP Quezon City is granted Level III reaccredited status by PACUCOA.
  • 2012 – In 2012 TIP celebrates its 50th Foundation Year. The whole School community is gearing up for the celebrations that will include the launch of commemorative books, community fairs, a special concert, and a Grand TIP Alumni Homecoming.
